Nous sommes ravi-es d’annoncer que notre membre Yves Bergeron est récipiendaire de la médaille Marius-Barbeau, décernée annuellement depuis 1978 par l’Association canadienne d’ethnologie et de folklore, en reconnaissance d’une importante contribution en ethnologie dans les champs de l’enseignement, de la recherche ou de la communication. Notre membre sera récompensé lors d’une réception organisée par l’ACEF, dont notre membre Van Troi Tran est président élu, dans l’atrium du Musée McCord Stewart le vendredi 14 juin à 17 h.
Plus tôt dans l’après-midi, la table ronde « Memories, Museums, and Mapping: Public Folklore in Canada Roundtable with Current Practitioners » se tiendra dès 15 h au théâtre J.-Armand-Bombardier du musée. Présidée par Yves Bergeron (IPAC), la table ronde réunira Kristin Catherwood Mantta (Heritage Saskatchewan), Terra Barrett (Heritage NL), Saeedeh Niktab Etaati (Canadian Museum of History), Shamus MacDonald (Highland Village Museum) et Laura Sanchini (Canadian Museum of History), des spécialistes du folklore oeuvrant dans des institutions et organisations canadiennes.
Présentation de la table ronde
« This roundtable brings together several public folklorists working in institutions and organizations across Canada for a discussion on their work documenting, sharing and interpreting living heritage and expressive culture. Discussion topics will be wide-ranging: the state of public folklore today, a day in the life of a working public folklorist, challenges that face our work, and an overview of current major projects. Public folklorists work in many heritage sectors, from government and community organizations, to the world of GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums), this roundtable will offer contemporary insights and experiences from those currently in the field. A lively Q&A is anticipated and encouraged. »
